Dress-up Fun

Lauren and Lesley received dress-up boxes from Grammy one Christmas. Each of them were given a blue trunk with clothes filled to the top. There were clothes of all shapes and sizes in these trunks. There were jeans, shirts, ballerina dresses, formal dresses, witch boots, stockings, hats. There were so many options which made it so much fun to play dress up. We could pretend to be anyone we wanted.

Ben even got in on the dress-up action. I know we have a family video of Ben dressed up in a gold leotard and tutu. He may have even gone so far as to let us put on some make-up. He was such a good sport.
We did Miss America and Miss Universe Pageants several times. The one that comes to mind right away is the Miss Universe Pageant with me, Lauren, Lesley, and Taryn Morgan. I think Taryn was the Emcee. Lauren was very upset because she had just wrecked her bike and had a big scratch across her face and she was crying because she knew she wouldn't win the Pageant. She ended up winning! Grandma, Grandpa and maybe Grandy, along with mom and dad were the audience and judges. We went through several outfits in the process. We had formal outfits and talent outfits.

The blue dress-up trunks were kept in the closets in the playroom/ Lauren and Lesley's room. Mom had made the closet curtains that covered the closets. The closets were perfect for clean-ups because it was so easy to clean by stuffing things into these closets and the curtains could be fluffed out to cover almost anything and it would "look" clean from the outside, but watch-out if you opened it up. One of my least favorite jobs was cleaning out those closets. You never knew what you would find!
