We had a big, plastic, bluish green paddle boat. I am not sure where it came from... maybe it used to be mom or dad's? Anyway, this paddle boat must have had holes in the bottom because we didn't use it to paddle around the river, we used it to fill with water in the middle of the yard and we used it as a swimming pool.
The water would usually be freezing cold when we first filled it up, but we would let it sit there in the sun for a few hours and even a few days until it got so gross we had to dump it out and start all over.
We had so much fun playing in this little boat. We would sit in there, bring in toys and spray and squirt each other. We would tip the boat out on each other and turn it upside down and use it like a slide with the water streaming down one side. It was a great alternative for making the trek down to the river, or when we wanted to get cool, but were short on time.
When I think of our house on Riveride, the paddle boat will always be there, under the cottonwood trees by the old picnic tables. Man, I miss that place!
